Board Behavior and District Success

Presenter: David Lee, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, University of Southern Mississippi

This highly motivational session is based on the most comprehensive research in the country on school board behaviors. Board member behavior often determines the success of both the governance team and the district as a whole, as well as contributing greatly to student achievement. Boards of the future are in the crosshairs of accountability. Those who wish to grow in effectiveness must sharpen their productivity.

David Lee, Ed.D. is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Southern Mississippi and is internationally recognized as a leadership and motivation expert, speaker and author. He has served as speaker/consultant to school systems and Fortune 500 companies all over the world. He obtained his doctorate degree from Louisiana State University.

Dr. Lee is an accomplished leader with more than 35 years of experience driving change in organizations and providing the motivation that enables people to be better at what they do. His greatest strength is his experience because he has been a teacher, coach and principal at every grade level, superintendent of schools, deputy state superintendent of education for Louisiana, a college instructor and a local school board member. He has served from the classroom to the boardroom.

He is the author of three books and numerous articles in leading industry journals. He developed the Center for Board Behavior Reform training model that is based on his first-of-its-kind research on school board behaviors in more than 300 school systems nationwide.
