MASB will hold its next Behind the Scenes at the Capitol event on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in the State Room of Heritage Hall in the State Capitol Building from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is a fantastic opportunity to come to Lansing and learn more about education legislation and the upcoming election from experts who specialize in the Legislature.
Baldly Bipartisan’s Adrian Hemond and John Selleck will demonstrate “Politics can be cordial and funny.” Adrian Hemond, a Democrat, and John Sellek, a Republican, will break down the upcoming election, lame duck session and the direction of Michigan’s legislation.
Hemond is the founder and CEO of Grassroots Midwest. His professional experience includes Chief of Staff to the Michigan House Minority Leader and political science instructor at Saginaw Valley State. As a lobbyist, Hemond specializes in appropriations and local government. Hemond is a graduate of MSU. Go GREEN!
Selleck is the founder and CEO of Harbor Strategic Affairs. His understanding of politics comes from serving as Director of Public Affairs – Michigan Attorney General, Campaign Manager for Bill Schuette for Attorney General, and Michigan Director for Romney for President. Jennifer Smith, MASB Director of Government Relations will review current legislation, the budget, and other hot topic discussion. Additionally, Brenda Pilgrim, MASB Assistant Director of Government Relations will lead a session on how to search for and access federal grant dollars.
