It’s August. School Kick-offs are happening. Fall sports practices are occurring. Administrations are currently scrambling to figure out things like whether their budgets are actually workable, if they have all their positions filled, and any number of other last-minute things that are destined to come up. Beyond the immediate scramble, districts should also ensure they have a good understanding of the legal lay of the land, to help them navigate other potential issues which may come up as the year progresses.
MASB is pleased to present its Back to School Legal Workshop tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 8 from 8:30 a.m. – noon. This virtual event provides an opportunity to learn about the latest legal obstacles and challenges that may impact the upcoming school year.
We'll be covering several important topics, including:
What’s New in 2024: Legal Update for School Officials.
School District Legal Liability: Critical Issues
Student Discipline: The School Board’s Role
Using Data to Negotiate Superintendent Contracts
