Should you Bring Someone in for Your Bargaining?

Mar 20, 2024, 08:00 AM by Daniel Feinberg, J.D., Assistant Director of Labor Relations and Legal Services

As districts prepare for bargaining, one of the questions they need to consider is whether they should hire a third party to assist them. There are many reasons to do so and can be vastly different from district to district. However, this year, given the changes to public sector bargaining, the decision to involve outside counsel carries a much greater weight.

Regardless of the reasoning, it is important to explore this option early in the process, before you begin meeting at the table. Our Labor Relations and Legal Services Department is pleased to offer bargaining services. Whether you need expertise, fresh eyes or perspectives in the background, or even a desire to maintain a good relationship with labor by having the outsider be the “heel” at the table, we can meet your needs both during and outside of negotiations.

If you are interested in retaining our services, please do not hesitate to contact the MASB Labor Relations and Legal Services Department.
