MASB Executive Director Kathy Hayes Issues Statement in Support of Gov. Snyder’s Education Initiatives

Michigan Association of School Boards Executive Director Kathy Hayes released the following statement in support of Gov. Rick Snyder’s public education initiatives discussed last night during his State of the State address:

“MASB’s 2015-2016 legislative priorities include, creating a quality teacher and administrator evaluation process, a fiscal note on every piece of legislation to determine its actual cost and effective reading intervention tools for Pre-K through third grade. MASB is encouraged by the Governor’s focus on policies that are important to school board members in Michigan.

“We appreciate the Governor’s leadership and his commitment to these crucial issues in his State of the State address. In addition, we applaud the Governor’s recognition that these programs will take targeted investment to ensure success.

“We look forward to working with him and the Legislature on these issues in a thoughtful and expedient manner.”
