School board members in Michigan are preparing to deal with some of the more complex and nuanced issues they’ll be facing at the board table by participating in board member certification (CBA) classes. This year, MASB has experienced a record number of registrations for classes dealing with issues such as district safety, superintendent performance goals, board ethics and maintaining a focus on student achievement.

While these classes have always appealed to new and experienced board members, it appears that massive education reform efforts and increasingly complex dynamics in school districts are causing board members to seek additional training.

More than 25 different classes are being offered at Oakland Schools in Waterford, Dec. 4 – 5, 2015. Seats are still available in most classes; however, board members are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Superintendents are encouraged to attend (free of charge with their board members). Find registration and complete event details on the MASB website.
