General Member Services

MASB is your #1 source for professional school leadership needs. From board training to grassroots lobbying and representation at the Capitol, MASB helps board members achieve their community's high expectations for public schools and their children.

Just a phone call or e-mail away, the highly trained MASB staff offers professional assistance on boardsmanship and school governance issues.

Every two weeks you receive HEADLINES, Michigan's biweekly education news report. Periodically, you also get in-depth special reports on hot issues in public education. New board members also receive Boardsmanship Briefs on their major roles and responsibilities.

And board presidents automatically recieve each and every new edition of all major publications from the annual Summary of School-related Public Acts to Teacher Contract Settlement Reports to new editions of the Guide to the Open Meetings Act.

To enhance the image of public education and school boards, MASB actively supports public understanding of the role of the board and the challenges facing public schools. Your dues help fund advocacy programs like School Board Recognition Month, the Education Excellence Award Program and MASB's Ambassadors for Public Education, all designed to strengthen public confidence in public education.

Awards and recognition to board members for their achievements in MASB's CBA certification and advanced training classes are accompanied by a steady stream of news releases and announcements to the media throughout the state. Additional contract services to boards and the school management team include Labor Relations, Policy Development and Customization and Superintendent Search as well as board workshops and consultation.
