Online Classes
MASB Comes to You! We often get requests from ISDs/CASBAS to offer a CBA class on site. MASB is pleased to accommodate this type of request. We will process registrations and arrange for instructors and class delivery. We ask you to provide a facility and necessary meal arrangements. Our one stipulation is that there be a minimum of 15 participants. If there are less than 15 registrations, the ISD/CASBA must agree to pay the remaining difference up to an equivalent rate of 15 for the class to be held. Many ISDs/CASBAS have taken advantage of this arrangement allowing board members yet another opportunity to conveniently pursue their professional development. Another arrangement which individual school districts may be interested in is having CBA classes provided at their site. Several districts have requested onsite CBA classes for their board members as another way to assist board members in getting the professional development they need. The classes are often customized to meet the particular needs of the district. Again, we are pleased to work with districts in offering classes in this manner. Please call Angie Kanazeh, 517-327-5938 if you have questions about any of these arrangements. Online Classes Michigan Association of School Boards is pleased and excited to be offering online classes to our board members. As we've ventured into online learning, we have learned from our board members that the convenience of taking classes online is a great service to our board members who have difficulty traveling to different locations to take CBA classes. Online classes have enjoyed tremendous growth in popularity in recentyears. The convenience and flexibility are key factors in the success of e-learning opportunities. The following comments of one of the board members who took CBA 269/270 online represents many similar comments made by other board members.
In response to the question, "What are the advantages to taking an online class," the following comments were made: I can do it at midnight if I need to when the kids are in bed. I don't have to travel long distances. I can interact with other course participants at their leisure. I make interesting contacts and develop my email address list. I can network with my colleagues in other places at any time. I can access the WHOLE WEB in terms of resources. It is really something that MASB should continue to develop as the advantages are endless.
