Your school board sets educational and financial objectives for your district. Collective bargaining agreements contain liabilities that can frustrate and defeat those objectives. A MASB Labor Relations consultant will examine and analyze your collective bargaining agreement(s) to determine those liabilities. Recommendations of how to improve a contract, allowing for improved management flexibility and directing school resources toward quality education, will be included in the analysis.
MASBs Labor Relations consultants knows that success at the bargaining table begins long before the actual bargaining. Success is based upon preparation. We work with your school board to establish objectives for bargaining. We develop strategies to accomplish those objectives. Our Labor Relations consultants serve as the chief spokesperson for collective bargaining (including mediation and fact-finding) with the union. We offer professional advice in all methods of collective bargaining including traditional, and the latest collaborative techniques including, Win-Win, Mutual Gains and Target Specific.

Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC) Hearings
|
MASBs Labor Relations Department has considerable experience working with the Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC). We prepare the evidence, argument and witnesses to generate an effective presentation to the Administrative Law Judge/Commission. We also develop and draft a brief in support of a districts position. This includes preparing for unfair labor practice hearings, election hearings and unit clarification petition hearings. Our full labor relations library includes the Michigan Employment Relations Commission decisions and the most extensive education arbitration case file in the state, which are important factors that assist us with effectively representing your district.
