Although a lot happened today, it seems as if nothing was accomplished. The Senate moved to discharge HB 4787 and 4788 from the Senate Education Committee so they could be considered on the Senate floor. By doing this, they eliminated an opportunity for public input on these bills. Once the bills hit the Senate Floor, they were immediately substituted with language MASB has considered unacceptable for reform.

The abovementioned actions are all “part of the process,” and it’s assumed that the House will reject the changes made by the Senate. Once these changes are rejected, the two chambers will initiate the conference committee process for the Race to the Top bills.
Both chambers are waiting on recess to reconcile differences on other pieces of legislation. It could be a long night tonight or it could all be over soon. Stay tuned.

Re: Waiting
I think we've found that many 'parts of the process' often times lead to 'unacceptable' by many. Thank you for the update Peter.
