NSBA’s annual Advocacy Institute and Equity Symposium were canceled in January due to blizzard conditions that hit the Washington, D.C. area that weekend. The Advocacy Institute has been rescheduled for June 12 – 14, and the Equity Symposium will be held on June 11.

All pre-existing registrations for these events have been rolled over to the new dates. If you were previously registered, you should have received a confirmation email for the June dates, but will need to make a new hotel reservation. Hotel and registration for the conference for those not registered as of January are now open on the NSBA website.

The Advocacy Institute will help participants develop a keen understanding of why effective advocacy requires strong collaboration across policy, media and judicial spectrums.

This year’s conference will include keynote speeches from Dr. Larry Sabato, the Director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia and Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. Other sessions include discussions on the recent enactment of the Every Student Succeeds Act and school board priorities facing Congress.

On Tuesday morning, we will once again be hosting a Senate breakfast for our delegates and have invited Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters to address the group. Following the breakfast, you will be able to meet with members of Congress and their staff. Be sure to make your appointment in advance.

Register today and help keep Michigan’s delegation as one of the largest in the country at this conference.
